Week 73

Day 498 – Friday 26th July 2019

A cool and damp start to the day, so much more comfortable than yesterday. Not a lot to do today but it is the 2nd day of the Alps in the Tour de France.

they have proper mountains in France

and it was a cracking bike race

but 2 days after blistering heat had threatened to curtail a stage snow, hail and a mudslide finally did

Day 499 – Saturday 27th July 2019

A wet start to the day and rain is forecast all weekend 🙁

Cfor is very pleased the heat has gone

I treated myself to a little walk in the local woods

then settled down to watch the final Alps stage of the TdF

the madness of the tour

the winner

Day 500 – Sunday 28th July 2019

A cool start to the day but the at least the forecast rain hasn’t appeared. After lunch Julie and I went for a walk.

Milk Thistle

Gatekeeper

I think this is Chalk Hill Blue

Painted Lady

Bindweed

Day 501 – Monday 29th July 2019

A sunny enough day, to Dorking for a nose about.

The Dorking Cock. Believe it or not a team of knitters used to dress the cock up for things like St Georges day and other events like World Cups but the council used to take it all down for Health & Safety reasons

There’s not a lot in Dorking these days. It used to be quite quaint but like a lot of British high streets it’s under pressure and a lot of it’s antique shops have closed.

To Box Hill to eat lunch

They’ve fixed the stepping stones…

a very brave 4 year old shows Julie how it is done

Day 502 – Tuesday 30th July 2019

The forecast was a bit grim but I had decided today was the day I would tackle the rest of the DIY odds and ends at home. what a fun retirement!

the gutters; I don’t like heights so long ladders are way out of my comfort zone

Day 503 – Wednesday 31st July 2019

Had a Magnum for breakfast 😀 Spent the day doing my family tree. Found quite a few distant relatives on Facebook.

Day 504 – Thursday 1st August 2019

Waited in all day for an Amazon delivery that never came. That will never happen again.
