Week 65

Day 449 – Friday 31st May 2019

A banging hot day and time to make our way back to England. Packed up and drove the 3 hours to Avignon. We used toll roads because the N roads and the D roads to Aix-en-Provence are an absolute pain in the arse; Β£30 well spent.

It was 28Β°c when we arrived at the site in Avignon so the aircon went on straight away. Bliss πŸ˜€ Cfor was quickly out of the door for an explore. He has a routine for new sites. The fat boy barrels down the steps, gives the place a quick one two then goes under the vanΒ  while he gets his bearings.

Cfor absolutely loves rolling around in dirt; look at his eyes, there must be something primeval going on.

Later we walked the short distance into Avignon, it was still very hot at 5pm.

Avignon is a beautiful old French town on the banks of the Rhone and has a beautiful town square and a lovely little park towards the train station.

Day 450 – Saturday 1st June 2019

Another banging hot day. Used N & D roads to get to Macon, took slightly over 6 hours to do about 200 miles.

You get a good look at the French countryside on the N & D roads

It was 28Β°c again when we arrived in Macon.

Found a shady spot to pitch up and put the aircon on again.

Another day, some new dirt to roll in – Cfor made himself right at home.

Day 451 – Sunday 2nd June 2019

Hotter than banging today. It would have taken 6Β½ hours to make today’s journey on N & D roads so we took the toll road all the way to Chalons-en-Champagne.Β  With just a 100 yards or so to campsite Doris decided to send us round a housing estate! Brilliant.

The actual town of Chalons-en-Champagne looked fabulous as we drove by it but as it’s 32Β°c outside I’m sticking close to the aircon. Looking forward to some Reigate rain πŸ˜€

Cfor made himself at home, in the middle of the road.

Day 452 – Monday 3rd June 2019

An overcast day πŸ˜€ Took the toll roads to Comines near the Belgium border.

Stopping at the snail farm again

Day 453 – Tuesday 4th June 2019

A bright start to the day. Made our way to Cite Europe just outside Calais.

Cfor wanted to explore the car park, Julie had kittens

Day 454 – Wednesday 5th June 2019

Up early and to the ferry.

Adios Calais

England

I’ve been waiting a long long time for some proper chips πŸ˜€

Chips eaten it was time to start my to do list; I was still mowing the lawn at nearly 10pm

Day 455 – Thursday 6th June 2019

A bright day so I carried on with the garden. After a couple of hours cutting hedges I reckoned I deserved another portion of chips!

Full of grease & carbs I soon finished the garden πŸ˜€

Only another 8Β½ pages of my To Do list to go! πŸ™
